  • Queerspace Collective creates space for LGBTQ+ youth to feel safe and empowered to be their true selves. QUEERSPACE hangouts, an initiative of QUEERSPACE collective, is a free youth-centric intergenerational mentorship program creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and adults to connect as their authentic selves. Through in-person and virtual 1:1 mentoring and group events, LGBTQ+ youth develop increased self-esteem and a greater sense of belonging, cultural identity and pride.

  • Camp Aranu'tiq is a nonprofit program serving trans & gender-variant youth and their families, offering summer camps in NH & CA as well as leadership programs for older teens and weekend family camps.

  • Camp True Colors offers summer camps for LGBTQ+ youth and families, and is located between the Twin Cities and Duluth.

  • Couples in Transition supported couples experiencing a gender transition within a committed relationship. They have stopped holding meetings but some resources are still available on their site.

  • Minnesota Transgender Alliance provides resources and support to all members within the transgender community.

  • Little TIGERs is a social support group for trans/intersex/gender-expansive youth aged 12 and under.

  • IDEA Hastings is a local grassroots LGBTQ+ and BIPOC civil rights nonprofit. We’re working to help end racism and homophobia. We have brought support groups to the middle school and a peer group to the high school. We work to advocate, educate and bring change. We also have a local support group called Raising Rainbows. Our larger goal is to open a youth center with a safe haven for the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth

  • Teen TIGERs is a social support group for trans/intersex/gender-expansive teens, led and programmed by the teens.

  • Transforming Generations is a Minnesota organization dedicated to transforming cultural and power dynamics to end gender-based violence through advocacy, education, and therapeutic services.

crisis resources

  • OutFront Anti-Violence Program (call 800.800.0350 or email avp@outfront.org) Each year, OutFront Minnesota’s Anti-Violence Program assists with more than 1,000 incidents of anti-LGBTQ+ bias/hate violence, relationship abuse, and sexual assault. We provide crisis intervention services, confidential crisis counseling, and other advocacy services for LGBTQ+ victims/survivors of violence and harassment.

  • Avenues for Homeless Youth provides emergency shelter, short-term housing and supportive services for homeless youth in a safe and nurturing environment. The GLBT Host Home Program and ConneQT Host Home Program hosts drop-in hours for GLBTQIA young people (ages 16-24) experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

  • The Bridge for Youth provides crisis resources for youth experiencing homelessness, including services for LGBTQ youth.

  • Trans Lifeline is a volunteer-based crisis lifeline staffed by transgender people for transgender people. The toll-free number is (877) 565-8860.

  • The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention phone service available 24/7 at 1-866-488-7386, as well as help via text, chat, online community, and a support center.

Education

  • Gender Inclusive Schools is a Minnesota-based organization advocating for gender inclusive policies and practices in schools.

  • Telling Queer History We gather LGBTQ-identified people across generations, races, gender identities and class backgrounds to share stories in an open and informal format that encourages participation. Our goal is to build a sense of belonging and thus a stronger movement since June 2013. Digital LGBTQ+ history timeline.

  • Gender Spectrum provides education, training and support to help create a gender sensitive and inclusive environment for all children and teens.

  • GSA Network is a national organization of LGBTQ youth organizers of Gay/Straight student organizations from middle to high schools.

  • Queer Science is a program at the University of Minnesota where high school students can join graduate students and professors in conducting experiments in microbiology, environmental chemistry, physics, and engineering, and engage in dialogue about the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ scientists.

  • Minneapolis Public Schools: Out4Good strives to create safe and supportive schools for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender students, families, teachers and staff.

  • Saint Paul Public School's Out for Equity program strives to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment that fosters positive self esteem, respect for others, and academic success for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students through direct programming, professional development for staff, and supports for families.

  • Trans Student Educational Resources is a youth-led organization dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students through advocacy and empowerment.

  • Family Tree Clinic’s mission is to cultivate a healthy community through comprehensive sexual health care and education.

  • Hennepin Healthcare’s Pediatric Gender and Sexual Health Program provides primary care and mental health care to children, adolescents and young adults who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender-questioning or gender-nonconforming.

  • Hennepin Healthcare’s Adult Gender & Sexual Health Clinic unique and welcoming LGBTQA+ clinic at Hennepin Healthcare provides primary care to adult gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, gender-nonconforming, and non-binary patients.

  • JustUs Health leads the work to achieve health equity for diverse gender, sexual, and cultural communities.

  • Mayo Clinic Transgender and Intersex Specialty Care Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic serving patients with gender identity, gender expression or gender behavior that does not correlate with how the person feels emotionally.

  • Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition offers services to the trans & gender non-conforming community including a shot clinic, syringe exchange, monthly HIV testing, support groups, food shelf, gender gear program, and a gender lending library.

  • Planned Parenthood has a program offering transgender hormone therapy.

  • Reclaim works to provide access to affordable, culturally competent mental health services for queer and trans youth, and their families.

  • Red Door Clinic specializes in sexual health and offers low-cost or free testing for STDs, PrEP, a clean needle exchange, and help with birth control in a non-judgmental, LGBTQ+ friendly environment.

  • University of Minnesota Health Comprehensive Gender Care specializes in compassionate and coordinated care for transgender and gender non-binary patients, wherever they are in their transition. Patients meet with highly skilled staff and care coordinators who will help them to explore options and answer any questions you may have.
